Darren Hayes, leader and voice of the Austrolian duo savage garden, active between 1994 and 2001 and became famous all over the world with the songs “Truly Madly Deeply” and “I Knew I Loved You“, amazed fans with a beautiful letter where he told of the painful moments lived after the huge success of the late 90s and introduced her husband Richard but not only…
“This photo was taken four years ago,” darren writes, “It’s me with my beautiful daughter Lilah. I’ve never shared a photo of her face for privacy reasons – but she’s in kindergarten now so it’s okay. I share this photo because, in addition to the day I married Richard, this photo represents one of the happiest days of my life. I had the privilege of babysitting this beautiful child for the first few years of his life and helping him grow up.”

“In 2012, after finishing the last show of my tour, I knew I was going to leave for a long time, maybe forever – confesses the singer – I knew that the music industry as it was at the time was completely changing. It was the first time in 16 years that I had stopped dreaming. So, as I cried in my husband’s arms backstage, followed by sleepless days, we decided to give it all up and set off on an adventure.”
“We left England – Darren’s story goes on – and moved to the US in 2013 without having done any kind of project. It was beautiful but at the same time terrifying. I spent 3 years at The Groundlings school. It wasn’t easy! I had to take a lot of auditions to get in but I enjoyed being surrounded by people who didn’t know anything about me. Once a 25-year-old boy complimented me on how I kept the stage, I who sang with Luciano Pavarotti and performed at the Olympics, I felt strange but also encouraged by all this”.

“That’s when I met Johnny – he continues – after an announcement on Faceook where I was looking for a keyboardplayer and, together with him, we ended up writing musicals. We became so much friends and that’s when I became godfather because Johnny and his wife were expecting a baby. Since that day we are inseparable and, thanks to him, I have not stopped making music …”.
