Instagram and WhatsApp should gain Meta chatbot and show potential of its AI
Meta is close to launching chatbots for all of its digital platforms — including the now-forgotten Threads. Developed with the company’s LLaMA technology, the chatbots will be generative AIs and act as “people” on Meta’s social networks. From another point of view, the technology is a step by the company to compete with OpenAI, Microsoft and Google.
Before we move on to the text, it’s important to separate future Meta chatbots and LuzIA, a generative AI built for WhatsApp and Telegram. LuzIA was not created by Mark Zuckerberg’s company. However, Meta’s “personas” will have pretty much the same functionality as LuzAI on WhatsApp — and of course, it will be available on Instagram, Facebook, and dedicated function threads.
Meta’s chatbots are close to their launch
According to the Financial Times, the chatbots for Meta’s social networks are close to launch, and may arrive as early as September. Working in a similar way to ChatGPT and using LLaMA 2, AIs will have features to facilitate and improve the user experience. For example, actively recommending content and improving search on platforms.
Three sources connected to Meta told the Financial Times that chatbots can count different “personalities” in each of Meta’s products. The sources commented that one of the AIs may be a chatbot to suggest travel tips, while others may have a funnier “dialogue”/text, mimicking some celebrity.
With this feature, Meta will have a new tool to compete with the public with TikTok, its main rival in the social networking segment. Also, the “ChatGPT-style” bots are their belated counterpunch to the success of OpenAI/Microsoft and Google.
In June, leaker and programmer Alessandro Paluzzi published the print of an AI-powered chat feature on Instagram. Paluzzi is known for using reverse engineering and “code mining” to leak resources—he was even the first to find Threads the week of its release.
