Google Gemini Could Soon Tell Your Google Photos Memories
Google Photos: an upcoming improvement to the Memories feature in view
Google is gearing up to improve the Memories feature in Google Photos, according to a new APK analysis.
What is the Memories feature?
Making up the Memories feature, for those not familiar with Google Photos, is a selection of various images from your photo library presented as a slideshow. Typically, these recollections follow a particular theme, like the assortment of Christmas images from each year. Still, this feature may sometimes seem impersonal. Nevertheless, this may soon be different.
The role of Google Gemini
Based on the code in Google Photos, it’s clear that Google Gemini will create the Memories summaries. Still, the essential thing is that “AI seems to be able to narrate them as well.” Luckily, it appears that users can toggle this feature, letting them decide if they want to merge it. It is still unclear whether Google Gemini will feature this capability for images, or if it applies exclusively to photos taken with the camera.
Questions remain
A major question remains: What voices will play a role in these recaps, and what design will they have? AI voice generation has seen considerable growth recently, resulting in ever more realistic performances. A further question focuses on where the information for the narration comes from. There’s a chance that this data arises from the images themselves or from other Google services, but that’s all speculation at this stage.
Besides that, Google is giving users greater choice regarding which memories they will actually encounter in Memories. In the words of the code, it appears that Gemini has their recap narration planned for a December release.
