Release date and big announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2
A sequel to the Nintendo Switch 2 is here
The Japanese firm Nintendo has always kept its new projects undisclosed. Finally, it has put this point to strength that the way-haired Nintendo Switch 2 will be on the market before March, 2025.
Information leak: an announcement for January?
Still unknown is the release date of this new console. It’s a theory that is not supported by credible source b ut recently, information leaks given by CentroLeaks on X and published by ScreenRant mentions that Nintendo may reveal the Switch 2 officially in January of next year and release it in March.
This could be a rumor but it is likely because it has been said before in other leaks. One should also remember that CentroLeaks is usually an informational leak about Pokémon and this leak does not originate from there. They credit this information to a “reliable” poster on Weibo who has already spoiled nearly everything about the newest #NintendoDirect.
A feverish wait
For now, before the declaration comes officially, we can be certain that the Switch 2 is going to be compatible with video games of the current Switch. Rumours have it that it will support OLED screen and may have two chips, one for the portable aspect of the console and the second one in the dock.
The Joy-Cons, as these small detachable controllers are titled, need a redesign as well: magnetic connection and larger form-factor.
An issue for the defense?
Such innovations gave the competitors a hard time, Nintendo’s new consolation could be no exception. For example, it is widely claimed that Sony is the subject of a portable PS5 in response to the Nintendo Switch 2. It is still hard to predict who will come out on top in the console wars.
The sure thing is we will learn even more when Nintendo confirms the console, most likely in January but definitely before the end of March next year.
