MacBook Pro with OLED display no earlier than 2025 and with LG panels
For a MacBook with OLED display you will have to wait at least 2025. This, at least, is what was predicted by the authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities who in a tweet said that the release date will also depend a lot on the launch of an iPad Pro with OLED display.
This prediction is however in line with previous ones according to which Apple is thinking of adopting high-brightness OLED panels for both iPad Pro and MacBook. Currently, we recall, both the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro use mini-LED panels with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits and ProMotion with adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz.
According to what reported by the Korean newspaper TheElec, confirming previous rumors, LG would be working to provide Apple not only with OLED LTPO panels to be used on both iPad Pros but also for the first OLED MacBook, expected for 2025. The evaluation procedure will presumably take up to a year to complete.
In the circle of suppliers there could also be room for the Chinese manufacturer BOE that would have begun to adapt its Chongqing plant to produce OLED screens up to 15 inches in size, useful not only for tablets and notebooks.
