Zoom’s latest update focuses on its AI assistant

Self learn: Zoom uses Artificial Intelligence to enhance workplace productivity
Zoom, the online communication giant, unveiled a new feature at its annual Zoomtopia 2024 conference: the AI Companion 2.0. This is all part of making Workplace Zoom Workplace, the service’s up-market plan for business with a significant number of telecommuters more effective.

AI Companion 2.0: That digital assistant who appears on Zoom applications.
The idea of AI Companion 2.0 is to make an AI presence during your Zoom meetings, with the functionality to recall past conversations and even reference statements made by the users. Integrated into the internet, it communicates with other applications like Google Mail, Google Calendar, and Office. Its range of functions includes:

Document summarization and capability to provide an abbreviated electronic mail thread.
The generation of draft content as a capability: As mentioned in the previous sections, the generation of draft content was one of the most notably implementations of the tool for content creation, which generated a lot of work that was fairly easy to manage because it was only the first draft.
The support for production of email messages.
It can also develop short individual profiles of the speakers, brief description of the event, and text messages.

Zoom Workplace: A platform for remote teams
Zoom Workplace provides a vast array of solutions to help facilitate collaboration and communication with respect to various work groups. Not only can teams schedule meetings but can schedule events, write on virtual boards, and send members clips from meetings to ensure everyone is informed. This platform also comprises applications which are direct rivals to Google such as emails, calendar and documents.

Apart from the four general AI capabilities, there are six specific capabilities related to a certain type of industry.
On the same note, Zoom app is also expanding on the new and unique, and industry-specific AI features. For instance, there are the Zoom Workplace for healthcare, education, and frontline employees. They all present an AI solution relevant to the needs of these industries as illustrated below.

AI Companion 2.0 is planned for release next month. Though the service will not be available for all regions or industry, it should be available for free download for zoom workplace.
