iPhone: Apple releases iOS 17.2 download
The wait is over: iOS 17.2 was released for the iPhone this afternoon, with the right to the new Diary app. It is a native Apple tool for users to record their daily lives.
The Diary had been announced at WWDC 2023, which took place in July. It took months of anticipation, but now the software is available to people, along with other new features of the iOS system.
You can download iOS 17.2 right now. Just go into Settings → General → Software Update. You may need to drag the screen from the top to the bottom to load the latest version. It works with iPhone XR/XS and later (i.e. models from 2018).
Journal, widgets, and camera
A number of new features were already expected in iOS 17.2 and can now be utilized. Starting with the Diary app, which accepts text, photos, video, audio, and other media formats. The idea behind it is to “reflect on life’s moments and preserve your memories.” This app is called Journal.
On the other hand, the clock and weather widgets are more beautiful. They’ve undergone tweaks, as have the apps they’re linked to. Here it’s a lot of work to gradually improve the mobile system.
The camera on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also gets improvements. There is the promise of higher performance with the telephoto (also called telephoto) lens. We’ll have to test it to see if it’s actually improved.
Incidentally, Apple’s most powerful smartphones also become capable of capturing the so-called spatial video, which promises greater immersion when it is displayed on the Apple Vision Pro. I myself tried the VR glasses in Cupertino, at Apple’s headquarters. This is the most complete augmented/virtual reality experience I’ve seen so far.
Expectation for bug fixes
iOS 17.1.2 has been the subject of numerous complaints on the internet. Initially, iPhones were too hot, but this issue seems to have been resolved with the passage of time.
Still, users of Apple phones complain about apps crashing or high power consumption, which causes the battery to die ahead of schedule. The changelog released by Apple does not give details on what bugs have been fixed.
