Spying app gets hacked and even the creator is exposed
It backfired. The “spying” app LetMeSpy was the target of a cyberattack and its users’ data was stolen. The app is intended to be a product for parents to monitor what their children are doing, but its easy access allows it to be used by malicious people.
LetMeSpy is also used by people who want to spy on partners. This practice is a violation of privacy and those responsible for the installation are probably abusive people. As a great irony, even the creator of the app, which may have harmed the lives of thousands of people, had his data disclosed.
Spied data has been stolen and targets are further harmed
An even greater misfortune for those who were targeted by the app is that even the spied content was stolen. In addition, email and phone number of the accounts (who installs the app to watch another phone) are part of the database released by the hacker – or group of hackers.
LetMeSpy has a subscription service. Luckily for victims who pay to have more features in the app, no payment data has been leaked. The discovery of the invasion was reported by the Polish website Niebezpiecznik.
The leak even shows where the devices on which LetMeSpy has been installed are. Here , there is a point in Santa Catarina registering that there is at least one cell phone with the app active. If you live in the state and use an Android, it is worth taking a good search on the phone to know if you are not spied on.
Cyberattack reveals identity of LetMeSpy creator
Because it is an app with controversial performance, the creator of LetMeSpy was unknown. Anonymity is a “default” option for developers of such a program. But the cyberattack revealed the identity of the person responsible for LetMeSpy.
Just like the website that disclosed the cyberattack, the creator of the app is from Poland. Rafal Lidwin, who is based in Krakow, is the identity of the person in charge of LetMeSpy. Karma?
