Threads now makes it possible to know who’s online!
The latest threads status indicators are welcomed at Meta.
Due to the complaints about the absence of relevant and timely material on Threads, Meta plans to answer and add status indicators. These bubbles are further shown as green bubbles besides the profile picture of friends, highlighting if the friend is online or not.
A new feature for increasing its interaction
As per the chief of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, this optional feature called ‘activity status’ is to help users to find ‘other people to interact with in real time’. He said, “We hope that knowing when your contacts are online makes conversations easier.”
A rather unexpected feature for a site that doesn’t have the means of communication with other members
This new feature may sound shocking because Threads does not have functionality of direct messaging yet. This is because such types of indicators are even more prevalent in the platforms like chat applications such as Discord or an Instagram with a strong direct messaging environment. The company last month explained to Business Insider that Threads does not have inherent features for direct messaging.
There is yet easier way to promote real-time discussion.
The reasons Meta has these status indicators is to compel individuals to look for people that are currently on the service – to pose questions that will elicit real-time responses. But, without understanding how users can locate others who have that green bubble next to their profile photo in the first place, it is uncertain how this will be applied.
