Windows 11 wins widgets with data about CPU, GPU, memory and more
One of the highlights of Windows 11 is the widgets, which bring quick information to the user. A new tool makes things even better by presenting data about the computer in real time.
Among the new widgets are processor utilization and speed, memory usage, GPU temperature and usage, Wi-Fi and Ethernet speed.
Virtually all of this could be tracked by the Task Manager, Resource Monitor, or Game Bar. Third-party apps also fulfill this role.
Even though it is not exactly a novelty, with widgets, the idea seems to be to give quick access, since they are on the side of the screen.
As you can imagine, the CPU, GPU, memory and other widgets still have several bugs, since they are still in the preview phase.
Another change that should paint soon for Windows 11 widgets is the option to disable the news section. Currently, it can’t be removed, and that bothers a lot of people. According to Microsoft, this will change by the end of the year.
Dev Home brings widgets and tools to developers
The news appeared in the Dev Home app — also called the Development Home Page, in the Portuguese version — announced during the Build conference for developers.
Dev Home is still in preview. It’s for developers to connect to GitHub repositories, install tools and packages, and other features to make their work easier.
The app uses the Windows Package Manager (winget) and allows developers to generate a settings file to install required apps, tools, and packages.
In addition, there is a Dev Drive, custom storage volume for developers, which uses the Resilient File System (ReFS), and widgets to show issues and pull requests from GitHub.
Dev Home is available to all Windows 11 users, not just Insider program participants. Just download it from the Microsoft Store.
