Xiaomi unveils global HyperOS release schedule
Xiaomi has released the planned timeline for the rollout of HyperOS on smartphones sold outside of China. In a post on X/Twitter, the Chinese manufacturer reports that five Xiaomi smartphones and two Redmi-branded smartphones, in addition to the Xiaomi Pad 6, will receive the operating system in the first quarter of 2024. Among the cell phones listed is the Redmi Note 12, sold here in Brazil.
The other smartphones are the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 13T and Redmi Note 12S. The manufacturer does not specify whether the Redmi Note 12 is able to receive HyperOS is the 4G or 5G version. Xiaomi also informs that more details about compatible devices will be released at a later date.
The schedule shown by Xiaomi follows what the manufacturer is planning. Therefore, there may be changes over time. Here in Brazil, one of the main complaints about the brand’s cell phones is that there is a delay in sending updates. So, if you have a Redmi Note 12, don’t be surprised if March ends and you continue without HyperOS.
HyperOS was planned for the Internet of Things
HyperOS, the new operating system, was introduced in October. The manufacturer chose to create an OS “from scratch” to bring more integration between smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices — fundamental products for having a smart home. With HyperOS, Xiaomi wants to provide a better experience for those who have their smartphone and other home appliances from the brand.
HyperOS succeeded MIUI 13 and took the place of what would be MIUI 14. The new OS is based on Android 14. The official debut came in the Xiaomi 14 lineup, launched at the end of October. The operating system is also present in other smartphones of the manufacturer in the Chinese market. In addition to Redmi, POCO will also use HyperOS.
