Samsung Pay and more One UI apps will no longer show ads

Samsung will remove ads from its native apps that come on branded phones and tablets. According to the company on Wednesday (18), Samsung Pay, Climate and other apps that accompany the interface One UI factory will no longer display the advertisements. The measure is expected to enter into force later this year.

Ads appear in some apps that come with factory devices, including the most expensive ones, such as the Galaxy S21 Ultra. In Climate, for example, advertising may appear on a banner at the end of the page. In some cases, however, they are more apparent and appear even at the top, as shown in the image below.

But this reality is about to change. That’s what Yonhap News points out, based on comments made by the head of the mobile division, TM Roh, said that Samsung will ultimately stop displaying the advertisements in the apps. The information was confirmed shortly thereafter by The Verge through a spokesperson for the South Korean brand.

In response to the specialized site on Wednesday (18), Samsung said it “decided to suspend advertising on proprietary applications”. The list includes apps like Weather, Samsung Pay, and Galaxy Themes. The change is expected to reach users in an update that will be released later this year.

“Our priority is to deliver innovative mobile experiences to our consumers based on their needs and desires,” they said. “We value feedback from our users and continue our commitment to providing them with the best possible experience with our Galaxy products and services.”
