Apple will end iPhone shared photo album, but you can still save them.
Apple recently announced that it will end the photo album shared between devices, but you still have time to recover the images saved in the feature. The My Photo Stream tool will be disabled on July 26. The album, part of iCloud and present on iPhones and Macs, allowed access to images on other devices and deleted the photos after 1 month — if they were not saved elsewhere.
Before ending the shared album for good, Apple disabled the syncing of the photos for the feature. So users can’t use My Photo Stream to upload. All that’s left is to use only iCloud — which had its value increased a few weeks ago. The terminated feature didn’t take up iCloud storage space
Saving pictures from My Photo Stream
If you’re using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (almost rarely) that supports My Photo Stream, follow these steps to save the pictures you find in the feature:
Open the Photos app and select the Albums option;
If your device supports the feature, look for My Photo Stream;
Then click Select and click on the photos you want to save;
Click “Share” and then Save Image.
For Mac users, the steps are the same up to item 3. However, you can save the images to your device’s default library or upload to a cloud service that you use.
In the case of those who use a Windows PC, the situation is quieter: As Apple explains on its website, the iCloud program for Microsoft’s operating system automatically downloads the photos to the Downloads folder. And if you use OneDrive, the pictures are already saved in the Windows cloud.
The company didn’t give a reason for the end of My Photo Streaming. However, the guess is that the should not be a widely used feature – even more so with options such as Google Photos, OneDrive and Apple’s own iCloud.
