Comparative: Xiaomi Mi Band 7 vs Mi Band 6; what’s the difference?
Xiaomi introduced the successor to Mi Band 6 in June 2022. Known as Mi Band 7, the fitness bracelet has retained the line’s signature design, with the pill shape, and the wrist oximeter. But what changes between the two generations? Discover the similarities and differences between wearables in the following comparison.
The Mi Band is known for its pill format. After all, since the first generation, Xiaomi adopts the same design. The difference was left by the screen that evolved with the release of new generations.
With Mi Band 7 it was no different. Xiaomi increased the screen by 25%, taking it to 1.62 inch. In addition, the brightness of the AMOLED panel has risen to 500 nits, which helps in viewing in open environments, as was highlighted during tecnoblog testing.
The Mi Band 6 features a 1.56-inch screen. The AMOLED panel is smaller, but this does not harm the user in usability and also does not justify a mandatory upgrade. The maximum brightness is 450 nits, a very small disparity that does not even bring differences in daily life, as observed in our review.
In common, the duo comes with a TPU bracelet that can be easily changed. In the case of the Mi Band 6, the strap is adjustable between 155 mm and 219 mm. The latest version has an accessory that goes from 160 mm and 224 mm. The weight of the two generations without the bracelet is 12.8 grams and 13.5 grams, respectively.
Check out the colors of the bracelets informed by Xiaomi Global:
Mi Band 6: yellow, blue, beige, orange, black and green;
Mi Band 7: blue, beige, orange, black, pink and green.
Smartbands also have water resistance of 5 ATM (50 meters).
The duo also offers several sensors to monitor exercises and the physical conditioning of users. And there are some similarities in the duo, such as the pulse oximeter (SpO2) and the heart rate meter. In addition, wearables accompany sleep, stress and the menstrual cycle.
Despite this, the Mi Band 7 offers more sports modes. Xiaomi informs that the bracelet supports more than 110 exercises. In addition, the wearable detects the following physical activities automatically: walking, outdoor running, elliptical, treadmill and rowing machine.
The Mi Band 6, in turn, only accompanies thirty exercises. This is the case of the activities mentioned above, in addition to swimming, yoga and more. The bracelet even detects the following sports modes automatically: outdoor running, walking, cycling, treadmill, elliptical and rowing machine.
The two generations also give users some features to make it easier to make day-to-day life easier. This is the case for notifications of calls and messages, as well as applications. Users can still use tools such as stopwatch, timer and check the weather forecast directly by the pulse.
The duo, however, does not have Wi-Fi and GPS. To connect to the phone, the Mi Band 7 and Mi Band 6 bring Bluetooth 5.2 and Bluetooth 5.0, respectively, to the data sheet. Xiaomi fitness bracelets also do not offer the function to make connections directly from the wrist.
In addition, Xiaomi even took the Mi Band 6 to other countries, but NFC did not reach Brazil. The global Mi Band 7 was also announced without the function.
